We draw light before we draw walls.

An architecture and interior studio working on private houses, sensitive restorations and small public buildings. We take on six projects a year, no more.

Our approach

Start with the site

Before a single line, we spend a full day on the plot. Where the sun lands, where the wind comes from, what the neighbours see.

Draw by hand first

Every project begins on paper. Software comes later, once the idea can survive a pencil.

Build a real model

A physical model at 1:50, because screens flatten what a room actually feels like.

Stay through construction

We're on site weekly until handover. Drawings only get you so far.

Restoration

Drag to see what changed

A 1930s townhouse we opened to the garden without touching the street facade.

What we do

From first sketch to final key

01
Architectural design

New builds, extensions and full-house remodels.

02
Heritage restoration

Sensitive work on protected and period buildings.

03
Interior architecture

Joinery, lighting and material schemes designed in-house.

04
Planning & permits

We handle submissions and negotiate with the authority.

05
Site supervision

Weekly visits and contractor coordination through to handover.

The studio

Small on purpose

Six projects a year means every drawing gets looked at by the people who signed the contract.

What they said after handover

They pushed back on half of what we asked for, and every single time they were right.

The only architects we've worked with who were on site more than we were.

They got the permit through in a month. We'd been told it would take a year.

Frequently asked

Fees are a percentage of build cost, agreed upfront after a first site visit. The visit itself is free.

Design and permits usually run six to nine months, construction another year, depending on scale.

Yes, we take projects anywhere within a few hours' drive, and further for the right brief.

Happily. We can also recommend builders we've worked with repeatedly.

Sometimes, if the brief is interesting. A good kitchen is harder than a bad house.
